YouTube’s has launched Space Lab, a competition encouraging people to suggest experiments that can be carried out in space.

Entrants upload a video describing their experiment to the YouTube. The winner, selected by the website, will see their experiment performed in the international space station 250 miles above the earth.

Suggestions for possible experiments include: Can plants survive beyond the Earth? Could proteins in space reveal the mysteries of life?

YouTube is no stranger to thinking big. It has organised global musical collaborations in the past but this time its vision is truly out of this world.
