The future of ITV’s Harry Hill’s TV burp is in doubt today after reports emerged that its eponymous host, comedian Harry Hill, is ready to turn his back on the format.

According to The Sun Hill has turned down a £1m pay-rise which would have netted the star a hefty £4m pay cheque for fronting the show.

Hill, it is claimed, is seeking to put his personal life before professional considerations as the hectic schedule of filming plays havoc with his family life.

The comedian has also agreed to pen jokes for upcoming Simon Cowell project – X Factor The Musical, to bring home the bread.

Hill has previously complained to ITV execs that filming up to 21 episodes of the show a year for the past nine years had left him “suicidal” and “completely mental”.

ITV are adamant however that a 2012 series will proceed as planned, although production firm Avalon stressed that no final decision has yet been reached.
