IPA joins forces with PoppyScotland fundraising auction in Edinburgh
The IPA in Scotland has decided to postpone its plans for a BBQ event this evening, in an effort to support another charity event being held by Newhaven, which aims to raise funds for Poppy Scotland and Fundraiser Billy Strathdee.
Murray Calder, chairman of IPA in Scotland explained that the organisation had planned to host a BBQ event but decided to join forces with the Poppy Scotland fundraiser in order to avoid clashing with it and competing with the cause.
As a result, IPA members have been invited to the fundraiser, taking place at the Old Ambulance Station, Brunswick Street, Edinburgh, to raise funds for PoppyScotland and promote the work of Billy Strathdee, who is set to swim the English Channel, cycle from Dover to Grangemouth and then run to John O’Groats.
Newhaven has developed a website to promote Strathdee, who is raising funds for wounded servicemen and women through PoppyScotland, having lost a leg himself.
An auction will be held with photography by many of Scotland’s most respected photographers selling their work to aid Strathdee.
The lots are available to view through the newly launched website.
Domino Recording and Publishing will also provide £200 worth of free music downloads to attending IPA members.
The event begins at 6pm tonight, with the auction set to begin at 8pm.
