Is has been announced that Google is planning a new advertising programme that will show celebrity product endorsements.

Christian Oestlien, Google’s head of social advertising, said during a conference in New York that the company is currently testing the feature, which will be shown under paid search results.

The feature will launch in the US shortly, although it will not be unveiled I the UK until later.

According to the Telegraph, as part of his presentation, Oestlien showed a sample screenshot in which a product from US department store Sears appeared in search results with the endorsement of the Kardashian sisters.

A Google spokesperson said: "Some advertisers use celebrity endorsement in their ads. This test extends the option of celebrity endorsement to online campaigns.

"We're always testing new ways to make advertising more compelling to our users and advertisers."
