Former Scottish international footballer, Colin Hendry, has apparently been ditched from his soccer pundit role with television sports channel ESPN following a publicly-aired dispute over cash with his former best friend.

According to the Scottish Sun, the sports broadcaster has dropped Hendy after a war-of-words with Hector McFarlane, after Hendry borrowed £85,000, which he never repaid.

The redtop quotes an ESPN insider as saying last night: "We've been less than impressed with some of the things Colin has been saying or been accused of.

"It has reflected badly on ESPN and we don't want to be associated with it. We've every sympathy with Colin but the public bickering has gone on too long."

Last year Hendry was made bankrupt with depts. Of around £2.1m and is understood to have made an arrangement to pay back just 2% of the money, of which McFarlane will see less than £2,000.

The Scottish Sun reports: “Last month we revealed how Hendry sent gloating texts to Hector over the deal.

“One said ‘Another bottle off you, while another read ‘Laughing my*** off. He also called Hector's wife Williamina, 60, "Miss Piggy" — then claimed the 5ft 1in housewife assaulted him.

“Last night an ESPN spokesman said: ‘Colin has been a periodic contributor to our football coverage. At the moment we do not have any specific assignments for him."

The tabloid added that Hendry was unavailable for comment last night.
