North Manchester shopping and entertainment destination, The Rock, has appointed Democracy to handle its PR following a three-way pitch.

The Rock was looking for a PR agency with strong contacts in the national and regional fashion press.

Nikki Kitchen, marketing manager for The Rock, said: “The launch of the Rock was very successful and we need to build on that momentum. We’re now in the second year and we wanted a PR agency with strong fashion credentials and exciting, creative ideas that would drive footfall and deliver commercial success - Democracy demonstrated that they’re the right team to deliver on our objectives.”

Jennifer O’Grady, founder of Democracy, said: “The Rock is positioned as the destination for shopping and leisure for the younger, fashion conscious shopper in North Manchester. Our creative proposal included headline grabbing stunts backed by hard working press office tactics that will deliver on the core objectives of the scheme in 2011 and beyond.”
