Cushelle joins ranks of brands with cuddly toy promotion...we look at some of the others
With toilet paper brand Cushelle launching an on-pack promotion for koala toys, we look at other brands which have recently decided that the UK is a sucker for a soft toy.
The ‘Big Koala Hug Giveaway’ invites customers to enter the barcode from their promotional pack on the website to see if they have won.
Cushelle brand manager Julie Orange said: “Our latest social media activity has demonstrated a growing popularity for Cushelle Koala, as consumers fall in love with his cute and irresistibly soft nature.
“Building on this emotional tie, we’re planning to reward consumers with the chance to win an irresistibly soft, huggable friend.”
But wait…this seems a little familiar. Didn’t BirdsEye do the same in August? And Compare the Market in July? And TG Tips in December?
Persil is definitely a brand that knows that soft toys sell: it has offered free Happy Feet toys and Mr Men toys at various points.
To marketers really think the UK public are easily won over by a cuddly toy? Considering how well the campaigns have worked so far, it would seem we are.
Perhaps it is because we have grown up with the excitement of getting toys from McDonalds Happy Meals, or perhaps it’s the cuddly toy from the Generation Game burnt into our memories, but the UK is definitely a sucker for soft toy: a fact that marketing teams have caught on to.
