Music magazine NME has today announced the launch of NME Extra, which will give its print readers access to additional content online.

Today's issue of the magazine comes with a unique six-digit code printed on the cover, which can be used to unlock exclusive content and giveaways at NME.com.

This week NME Extra focuses on 20 years years of Nevermind, the classic Nirvana album. Behind the code readers can find an interview with the band from 1991, a video feature with acts including Arctic Monkeys picking their favourite Nevermind tracks, a photo gallery and competition to win rare artwork and merchandise.

NME publishing director, Paul Cheal, said: "NME was the first music magazine in the UK to use QR codes so that our readers could capitalise on additional digital content for their smartphones. This latest innovation brings additional features, photography and video content direct to our readers' desktops."
