Ben Usher Smith has been appointed by The Union as its head of digital design, while the agency has hired three other members of its digital team.

Smith, who has been working in a freelance capacity for The Union for the last two years, has taken up the permanent post, having previously worked at Heehaw Digital before beginning his own business.

Joining him at Union Digital will be Paul MacLeod as senior digital designer, joining from Lewis, Tania Lopes as digital designer and Maria Gamez as account manager.

Andrew Lindsay executive creative director for The Union, commented:”We are really excited about these talented people joining our digital team. It demonstrates our commitment to our digital offering. We have been steadily building our digital business from our existing client base and also from some excellent new business wins since the beginning of this year.

“It’s becoming a bit of a United Nations here with people from Spain, Portugal, the US as well as the usual smattering of English and Scots. I think it all adds to our cosmopolitan vibe,” added Linsday.
