Douglas Alexander, managing director of design business Navy Blue, is understood to have stood down as chairman of the public creative organisation Creative Edinburgh, ahead of its official launch.

Earlier this year Alexander was appointed to head up the board of the creative organisation, which has begun operating today (29 August) ahead of an official launch next month.

It is understood that Alexander has decided to step aside in order to concentrate on the running of his business.

Creative Edinburgh will take on several duties previously handled by the Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance, which is no longer in operation.

It is not clear if the organisation has begun its search for a successor.

At the time of writing The Drum was awaiting comment from Creative Edinburgh and was unable to reach Alexander for comment also.
