Tern TV and VisitScotland have announced that they are to launch a new project that will see two new entrants to the Network Programme create a viral to showcase Scotland as a holiday destination.

The announcement of the scheme was made at the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, where two members of The Network Scheme will work with Tern TV to develop the short viral that will be used as part of VisitScotland’s ‘Surprise Yourself’ campaign.

Helen Campbell, head of UK & Ireland marketing at VisitScotland, said: “TV is a crucial media channel to showcase Scotland as a fantastic tourism destination to prospective holiday makers. So it is vital that we inform influential TV production companies and networks about the number of ways in which we can support TV productions. We hope this project will help to do just that and we’re delighted to be helping some of this year’s The Network delegates to get a head start in the TV industry in the process.”

David Strachan, joint managing director at Tern Television, added: “We’re delighted to be working alongside VisitScotland on this project. It’s a chance to showcase the nation as a fantastic visitor destination, as seen through the eyes of a fresh and inventive young director. With such a lovely, broad brief this is a wonderful opportunity for new talent to get their vision out there.”

The Network, part of the Edinburgh International TV Festival, has helped launch hundreds of TV careers over the year.
