The Royal Bank of Scotland has funded a documentary which will be broadcast on STV, following the Scottish International Rugby team’s build-up to the Rugby World Cup.

‘Mud, Sweat and Tear’ has been full funded by RBS, following a deal which was brokered by MediaCom Scotland, and is a one-off documentary following the team ahead of the World Cup in New Zealand next month.

The documentary will air on 6 September at 8pm.

Dominic McKay, director of communications for Scottish Rugby, said: "We're delighted to be partnering with RBS on the making of this behind the scenes documentary on the Scotland Rugby Squad. The documentary will bring supporters closer to the action and allow them to get a feeling for all the hard work undertaken by all the players, coaches and back-room staff in the lead up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand."

"We want to get the whole nation backing Scotland in the run up to and during the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand and this programme will show the massive effort put in by all the players and coaches to ensure they are in the best possible condition to represent the nation at the worlds 3rd largest sporting tournament."

Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of Channels at STV, added: "This documentary offers unique insight into the Scotland team at an extremely exciting and high-pressured time for them. We're delighted to be working with Scottish Rugby and RBS on this one-off documentary and I'm confident this documentary will hold appeal for both rugby fans and non-fans alike. It's a great addition to our autumn schedule."

Meanwhile, Charlie Smith, brand and partnerships director UK Retail, explained: "RBS has been a supporter of rugby in Scotland for over 50 years and we recently became the new principle partner of Scottish Rugby. We will be working with them to support, raise awareness and grow all aspects of the game including their community and grassroots activity, domestic league and cup competitions and Scotland's age-grade and national teams.

"Mud, Sweat and Tears will hopefully raise the profile of rugby across Scotland, opening up the game to new audiences and generating a real interest around the team in the build up to the World Cup in New Zealand. The focus of the programme has been to get a genuine insight into the squad, and the individuals that have supported and helped them achieve their ambition of making the trip to the World Cup."

STV will also air Scotland’s matches during the tournament, beginning with Scotland V Romania on 10 September at 2am.
