The Ministry of Justice has said that it will reveal summery statistics about the injunctions and super-injunctions which are applied for.

Data will start being collected this month, with statistics to be published for the first time later on this year.

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has said the summary statistical information collected will include the number of such injunctions which are applied for; the number granted and refused; whether with notice or without notice; and if granted, what derogations from the principle of open justice there were and which derogations were consented to by the parties involved.

The MoJ has also released data today about estimates of initial court hearings outcomes for suspects involved in what is described as the ‘recent disturbances’.

The data for this showed that 1179 suspects had had an initial hearing at a Magistrates court by midday on 15 August, with 21% of these people aged between 10 and 17. Further data like this will be released by the MoJ on the 18, 23 and 25 August.
