Quick Reads has announced its 2012 launch with the news that it will remain partnered with Galaxy for another year.

The relaunch will see ‘Galaxy Quick Reads’ work together with freud communications to create a ‘Fall in love with reading’ campaign in February 2012. The partnership secured a £200,000 to help drive the initiative forward.

Gail Rebuck, chair of Quick Reads, said: “We are delighted that Galaxy is partnering with Quick Reads for another year. We have been discussing ambitious and exciting new plans to drive the initiative forward and help even more people discover Quick Reads – the new titles being announced today from best-selling authors are an important part of that. Above all, it is people with literacy difficulties who will directly benefit from this fantastic partnership.”

The campaign will include partnerships with national media outlets and engagement of credible, authentic celebrity ambassadors. Employers such as Mars, First Bus and P&O introduce ‘reading breaks’ for their employees - to enhance their skills and productivity - and self-sustaining reading groups will be developed nationwide.

Stuart Woollford, Galaxy UK company manager, said: “Galaxy has been involved with reading for the last seven years, sponsoring the ‘Richard and Judy Book Club’ on Channel 4, the Book Industry Awards and the Galaxy National Book Awards – along with last year’s Galaxy Reading 1 million book giveaway.

“We feel very strongly that those with literacy difficulties - or are just not reading - shouldn’t be missing outon the pleasure of reading. Quick Reads work to date has been incredible and with our continued partnership and investment, we look forward to building on this success in 2012.”
