Twitter users could be arrested for inciting violence
A Scotland Yard chief has warned today that Twitter users could be arrested for inciting violence following the two nights of looting and rioting in London.
It has been previously reported that some have blamed the use of smartphones and social media websites such as Twitter as ‘fuelling’ the violence which took place over the weekend.
Some people involved were posting ‘trophy’ pictures of themselves on the website.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stephen Kavanagh confirmed that officers were looking at the microblogging website as part of investigations into the riots.
