GMG enlists Pixie Lott and X Factor stars for Blackpool Illuminations gig
GMG Radio has revealed that Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry and Olly Murs will be on the bill for its Blackpool Illuminations Switch On Ceremony on Friday 2 September.
The show, which will be broadcast live on Real Radio and Smooth Radio, will also feature Paul Carrack, Wonderland and The Overtones.
GMG said it would announce more top name performers in the coming weeks as it looks to match the success of last year's event headlined by Robbie Williams. That drew a crowd of 15,000 in a specially set up arena and a further 20,000 watching on big screens on Blackpool's famous Promenade.
Dave Shearer, programme director at Real Radio, said: "These are the first of what is shaping up to be another fantastic line-up of acts to entertain the crowds that make the trip to Blackpool from across the UK.
"There’s more to come and, of course, we will shortly be making the much anticipated announcement on which star will be doing the all-important ‘Big Switch On’.”
