Nokia launches stop animation film by Aardman and W+K
Nokia has today launched the world’s largest stop motion animation, shot on a Nokia 8 and created by Aardman Animation and Wieden + Kennedy.
The video, filmed in Wales over five days, uses the mobile phone to shoot the 90 second film, called ‘Gulp’, which shows a fisherman having what is clearly a bad day.
Three phones had to be used in the creation of the animation, which were attached to a cherrypicker.
As it was a stop animation film that was being created, it was not the video function on the Nokia 8 that was used, but the photo function. The pictures were then played back at 25 frames per second.
The animation was directed by Sumo Science pair Ed Patterson and Will Studd, who are represented by Aardman Animations.
