A survey by Compuware Corporation has found that mobile users in the UK are unhappy with the speed and reliability of mobile websites, with 70% leaving a website if it takes over five seconds to load.

The survey found that 78% of the 500 UK respondents would use mobile websites more often if they were as fast as their PCs or laptops, with 56% believing that mobile sites should upload as quickly, or quicker, than regular websites.

It was also discovered that during the last year, 40% had a problem accessing an app on their mobile, and 37% had an app freezing or crashing on them. 81% would only retry an app a maximum of two times if it froze on them.

David Flower, VP EMEA Compuware’s APM division, said: “User expectations for mobile continues to increase, but companies in the UK are not meeting mobile users’ need for fast and reliable experiences.

“As a result, many companies are failing to take advantage of the opportunities being provided by increased mobile access.”
