A former Grampian TV [now STV] analyst is to join regional newspaper publisher Northcliffe as the head of its operations in Bristol.

Alan Renwick, currently owner of Kew Enterprises, has been appointed publisher of Bristol News and Media Limited whose titles include the Bristol Evening Post.

The move completes the line-up of publishers to run Northcliffe’s four big-city titles, and follows the appointment of Steve Hollingsworth as publisher of Nottingham Post Media Group; David Simms as publisher for the Leicester Mercury Media Group; and Mike Pennington as publisher for Mail News and Media in Hull.

Renwick began his career at Grampian TV as an analyst in 1987, and has held management positions for a number of publishers including Southern Newspapers, Thomson Regional Newspapers, Mirror Group and TSL Education.

As the founder of leading consulting firm Ocean Strategy, he has also advised many of the major media groups - focusing on developing and implementing growth and turnaround strategies.

Renwick will join Northcliffe Media on 2 August. Along with his fellow publishers, he will report directly to group managing director Steve Auckland.
