The first Sir John Hegarty Berlin School Scholarship has been won by TBWA\Manchester’s disruption director, Lorna Hawtin.

The scholarship was devised for IPA member agencies, for senior female members of their teams to compete to receive £42,000 worth of tuition support and complete five, two week worldwide based modules over the space of two years in Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Shanghai.

“'I’m incredibly honoured to have been awarded this scholarship and it’s a testament to the support and developmental opportunities I’ve been given at TBWA\Manchester,” commented Hawtin.

“I fully intend to make the absolute most of being the inaugural recipient and hope to harvest some insight into global leadership cultures that can be used to interrogate how we run our creative businesses here in the UK.”

Patrick Mills, director of professional development at the IPA, added: “We were thrilled by the number and quality of applications for this scholarship. It demonstrates the industry’s desire to keep on learning and developing. It is fantastic to see Lorna win the scholarship, she is a thoroughly deserving and popular winner.”
