Two senior figures in the North West PR scene have announced that they have joined forces to launch Reputation Consultancy.

Steve Leigh, who left his position as a director of Citypress at the start of the year to establish the business, has teamed up with Griffiths to develop the corporate reputation measurement and management agency.

The partnership reunites Steve Leigh with Rachel Griffiths, previously director at the R Consultancy and deputy chief executive at The Association of Mutual Insurers. The two originally worked together at Manchester agency Communique and have since pursued separate careers in PR and communications.

Reputation Consultancy aims to assist organisations in maximising their reputational equity through 'reputation audits' and 'reputation tracking' products alongside public relations, public affairs and communications services.

“Reputation is becoming increasingly important in the current climate,” said Leigh. “The impact of the recession, the growing transparency created by digital communications and an increasing desire for businesses to act responsibly, have all combined to put the issue of managing reputation firmly on the corporate agenda.

“We allow businesses, organisations and their leaders to accurately audit how they are viewed, track the ebb and flow of their reputation from month to month and shape and deliver strategies to protect and grow this valuable asset.”

For Griffiths, the launch is the culmination of 5 years of work in translating academic theory on corporate reputation into a tool for business.

“The need is to make the intangible tangible and to allow management to report on reputation at board level. This gives businesses an accurate picture of their strengths and weaknesses and what they can do to change operations and communication activity to directly enhance their reputation,” says Griffiths.

“Working closely with our research partners, as well as harnessing digital monitoring to show the evolving picture of reputation, has allowed us establish a tool that is both comprehensive and yet easily translated into useful up to date management information.”

The consultancy’s first action has been supporting the UK’s Co-operative Sector in its launch of Co-operatives Fortnight.
