The Professional Publishers Association has launched an extended version of its New Journalist Awards to recognise a wider range of publishing roles.

The new event, called the PTC New Talent Awards will offer more than double the number of awards aimed at recognising young talent in the magazine and business media industry.

This will include previous editorially-focused categories but also cover marketing, sales and circulation positions.

Students on journalism and publishing courses accredited by the Periodicals Training Council (PTC) will also continue to be recognised at the event, with the Most Promising Student Journalist of the Year award now separated into undergraduate and postgraduate categories.

The new categories takes the total number of awards to 18. A full list can be found on the event website.

Entries can be made until 23 September and winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in February next year.

"The PTC New Journalist of the Year Awards has for years provided a showcase for those with outstanding editorial promise and the winners have gone on to become some of the stars of our industry," Loraine Davies, PTC director added in a release.

"With the launch of the PTC New Talent Awards we have extended this platform to recognise the broad range of skills that are crucial to the success of today’s media brands."
