Online newspaper websites continue to grow as print counterparts decline
Online newspaper sites continue to grow while their printed counterparts continually see a decline in circulation figures the latest ABC report has found, with guardian.co.uk's hit rate growing by over 17% and MailOnline growing by 21.4% in comparison with the same period last year.
The Daily Mail saw an decrease of 1.61% from May 2010's average daily circulation figure, falling to 2,056,881, while The Mail on Sunday fell by just 0.01% to 1,918,751 as its online presence grew by 82.66% to 42,370,127 average monthly hits.
Meanwhile, The Guardian posted a decline of 12,49% to 262,937, and The Observer a loss of 13,87%, as its online figures grew by over 40% to an average monthly figure of 10,723,595.
The Mirror Groups' online figures rose to 10,723,595 average monthly views, an icrease in 40.7%, with the print edition of the Daily Mirror losing 5.61% and the Sunday Mirror down by 5.33%.
The Sun saw an annual decrease of 3.04% to 2,846,905, with the Times losing 13.33% of its circulation at 446,684.
The Scotsman also saw a 9% decline, Scotland on Sunday a 4.9% decline and the Daily Record a 5.2% fall, with The Sunday Mail losing 7% of its circulation.
The Herald also continued its decline with a loss of 8.2% in the last 12months, while the Sunday Herald fell by 23.61% to 32,292.
