With a press conference set to be held tomorrow by Harry Potter author JK Rowling, and the soft launch of a website called ‘Pottermore’, speculation is mounting as to what the venture will be, which the Drum understands will have an online focus.

An online campaign has been counting down to a press conference being held by Rowling tomorrow in which she will discuss her plans ahead of the final movie of the Harry Potter franchise being released, although it is unlikely that it will include an eighth installment of the series.

The Drum understands that online will play a significant role in whatever her plans are, and indeed the mystery surround the website Pottermore.com which features a holding page with the author’s signature and the promise ‘coming soon’ in between two illustrated owls, sits.

The Guardian is guessing that an online game could be on the cards, with Warner Brothers having registered the trademark Pottermore two years ago.

A YouTube channel is already counting down to the conference, while an official Pottermore Twitter account has over 44,000 followers, and it is expected that social media will also feature heavily within the project, allowing the millions of fans to interact.

Whatever the answer is, the announcement will be made tomorrow (Thursday 23 June) and doubtless the world will pay due attention.
