i, sister paper to The Independent, has partnered with Heineken to provide a wi-fi news service.

The service will form part of the ‘Heineken hub’, a campaign developed by MediaVest to provide superfast wi-fi in premium bars and pubs in London and Cardiff.

i will be the first national newspaper to create a bespoke digital newsfeed, available to anyone using the Heineken Hub, with the free i app - to contain items such as the editor’s pick of the best articles in the daily paper - being available on smartphones, tablets and laptops in the Hubs.

Launching on 23 June, the app will be available from 11am every day.

Users will be able to click on a link to the bespoke digital version of i from Heineken’s Hub site, with the home page design incorporating both i and Heineken branding.

i and The Independent will be supporting the Heineken Hub and i campaign with a print and digital media campaign launching on the same day as the app.

Zach Leonard, digital managing director of The Independent, The Independent on Sunday & The London Evening Standard, said: ‘The Heineken Hub partnership is another example of the exciting solutions that i and The Independent are able to offer advertisers, that exploit the full potential of both our print and digital offerings, to engage with consumers in new and interesting ways.’
