Ecommerce sites should be focused on by marketers, says Econsultancy

The growing media ecommerce technology market should be taken advantage of by online direct marketing, according to Econsultancy's E-commerce Platforms Buyer's Guide 2011.

This comes at the same time as it is announced that 41% of UK firms use social media to arract new business.

The guide identifies market trends for the coming year, including the use of Facebook as a strong and a general move towards access to commerce through social media.

Jake Hird, senior research analyst for Econsultancy, said that as the expectations of consumers rise, online sellers will need to prove that they can provide on a variety of online platforms, suggesting "the need to integrate technology and marketing tools ... analytics, email and social media, is increasingly forcing existing vendors to develop their capabilities."
