Sega has become the latest videogame company to fall victim to a hackers group after the Japanese firm admitted over the weekend to having lost the email addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords of all users of Sega Pass.

Stressing that no financial information was at risk as a result of the breach, as these are the domain of external providers, Sega immediately took their online store offline.

Sega have yet to give any indication as to when the service is likely to be back up and running, merely publishing a holding message on the Sega Pass website claiming that the site needed to be taken offline for “improvements.”

Sega are the third videogame manufacturer to fall prey to hackers recently following similar data losses from Sony and Codemasters.
