Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has decided what will make profits with his new Slough-based easyGym: lots of exercise machines and no pool.

Targeting itself at those who want to get fit without the hassle, the company plans to make the company a success by putting in place a cheap monthly fee (opening prices in Slough are from £11.99 a month, and are to be subscribed to on a monthly basis with no contract) and providing customers with lots of exercise machines but no pools or saunas, very little in the way of showers, and towels costing a pound extra.

Sir Stelios said items such as swimming pools and steam rooms add an extra layer of payments to people who don’t want them and suggested “if that’s what you want, you have to go and join a gym that has a swimming pool.”

The second gym will be opening in North London in July.
