For the second year running Tangent Graphic has created the identity for the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The August festival will explore the concept that literature reflects trends and issues in wider society. This has led Tangent to come up with 'The World, in Words' hand-made visual identity.

The Glasgow agency created the colourful visual style by cutting sheets of acetate. Its design has been applied to a wide range of promotional materials including the 80-page listings brochure.

Tangent has also designed a visual style for the accompanying RBS Children's programme. It created origami animals, again made out of acetate, with help from Ricefield, the Chinese arts and cultural centre.

"Our solution is vibrant and immediate, but also flexible, which is really important given the varied formats it will be applied to," said Tangent director David Whyte.
