The Chartered Management Institute and Institute of Consulting have worked with digital agency TAMBA to create a web game intended to appeal to the next generation of managers.

'Battle for the Boardroom' is aimed at students, undergraduates and those starting their managerial careers.

The strategy game has been designed with 'strategic managers' in mind and challenges players to compete against a computer opponent to take over a corporate metropolis.

"The use of online gaming is a great way to capture the next generation of managers with some engaging content which breaks from usual membership acquisition tradition." said TAMBA CEO, Kay Hammond.

Adam Thompson, marketing manager at the CMI, said: "We’ve been looking for ways to engage with a younger audience, promoting the existence of the two organisations as a support resource throughout their careers right from the moment they graduate.

"With more and more students engaging with brands through online games we felt that by creating something challenging we could capture their imagination, give players the chance to share their achievements on Facebook and Twitter and let the game spread virally.”
