Lady Gaga first Twitter user to reach 10m followers

Lady Gaga has become the first Twitter user to reach 10 million followers.

Celebrating the milestone, the pop star tweeted a picture (see main image) of her in the UK alongside the message: “10MillionMonsters! I'm speechless, we did it! Its an illness how I love you. Leaving London smiling.”

Actor Ashton Kutcher was the first user to reach 1 million users in 2009, while his Two and a Half Men predecessor Charlie Sheen amassed that same number of followers in just over a day when he joined earlier this year.

It is expected that another pop star, Justin Bieber, who has around 9,600,000 followers, could be next to hit the 10 million mark.
