New craft magazine hits newsstands this week

Bath-based publisbher Future has announced that it will be launching its new craft publication, MollieMakes, on Thursday (12 May).

A craft and lifestyle title, it is aimed at a young crafters who are part of a vast online community connected through websites and blogs.

The 100-page magazine will provide readers with contemporary projects in a beautiful and inspiring environment.

“This is a completely new kind of craft magazine aimed at everyone who loves of vintage, collecting, making and thrifting,” said Janet Meadowcroft, editor-in-chief for MollieMakes.

“It’s much more than a collection of crafty projects, it’s about handmade being part of your lifestyle: what you wear, how you style your home and why you spend time crafting with friends.”

The magazine’s tagline “Living & Loving Handmade”, aims to celebrate craft as a part of life.

The first issue of the magazine will feature a covermounted kit to make a felt smart-phone case, as well as tutorials on making crochet apple cosies, bobble-trim skirts, fabric bunting, pocket Chihuahuas and the latest high street trends: ruffles and Peter Pan collars.

Features include vintage-inspired homes, an interview with top craft blogger Dottie Angel and a stylist’s guide to throwing a summer party.

The magazine also contains reviews of some of the latest crafty-interiors books and top tips on how to sell your craft goods online on Etsy, the world’s most vibrant handmade marketplace.

Mollie Makes is Future’s latest magazine launch, and continues the development of the company’s craft portfolio, which includes: PaperCraft Inspirations, Scrapbook Inspirations, Simply Knitting, The Knitter and CrossStitcher.
