Ten Alps has announced that it is going to continue broadcasting its Teachers TV channel, despite government funding for the station coming to an end.

Teachers TV was due to close at the end of last month, but Ten Alps today confirmed that it had reached "a non-exclusive distribution agreement" with the Department for Education to keep it on air.

The channel will be rebranded as Schoolsworld and will be broadcast at www.schoolsworld.tv.

Ten Alps said it intended to "develop the service into not only a continuing professional development provider to the education profession in the UK, but also as a provider of educational videos to pupils and parents".

It will also seek to take Schoolsworld international "on an advertising sales plus subscription-driven commercial model".

Ten Alps chairman Peter Bertram said: "Our aspiration, once we’ve introduced the new site and business, is to build

upon this valuable, world-leading library, creating a dynamic international education resource.”
