Murray Calder, director of MediaCom Edinburgh has been elected as the new chairman of IPA Scotland.

Calder will succeed Newhaven planning director Ken Dixon in the role and will deliver his two-year agenda for the Scottish industry on 10 May at a reception in Edinburgh.

He will be joined at the reception by newly elected IPA president Nicola Mendelsohn, executive chairman and partner and Karmarama.

“I am honoured to have been asked to take on the role of Chairman of the IPA in Scotland. I look forward to working closely and collaboratively with the industry up here and hope they will be as excited as I am about my forthcoming agenda to help produce the very best results for the business, which I shall outline in my inaugural speech on the tenth,” commented Murray.

Hamish Pringle, director general for IPA, added: “We're delighted that Murray Calder has taken on the Chairmanship and I'm sure the combination of his client-side background and media agency expertise will provide the leadership we need in developing the IPA in Scotland. The 'Future of Television' conference Murray has organised for the 11th May is a great start to his programme and I'm hoping we'll be building on Ken Dixon's legacy as past chairman with the IPA's continued involvement in the second Edinburgh International Marketing Festival this summer.”

Prior to working with MediaCom, Calder was global marketing manager for The Famous Grouse.
