The Jersey Royal Co made its national TV debut on Monday with the potato supplier’s ad breaking during Coronation Street.

Managing director Tom Binnet commented on the launch: “The television advert marks an exciting time in the evolution of the Jersey Royal Co brand, business and strategy as a whole.

“Since our range launch last year, the products have been extremely well received, resulting in additional listings throughout Tesco, The Co Operative Group and Ocado.”

The TV push couldn’t be better timed, with sales of Jersey Royal potatoes booming due to the royal wedding.

Treeva Fenwick from Tesco, which has seen sales exceed expectations due to name association, commented: “We did not anticipate it but because of the royal in the name, we are just seeing them fly off the shelves at the moment.

“Last year 250 tonnes of Jersey Royals were shipped to the UK, but by the end of last week 1,300 tonnes were shipped.”
