ITV has denied that it is set to axe presenter Adrian Chiles from its flagship morning programme Daybreak.

Reports this morning said that the programme was considering axing the presenter as part of a shakeup, which it also said had is growing in popularity.

“We are fully committed to Adrian and Christine as the faces of Daybreak,” a spokesperson for ITV stated.

“We are delighted in the steady growth in audiences for Daybreak since the turn of the year with average audiences of 800,000. Share of viewing is up for our core audience of housewives with children plus younger viewers contributing to a strong overall daytime schedule for ITV1. March was our most successful month since launch and despite the normal change to viewing patterns over holiday periods such as the Easter break audiences have remained robust with share of viewing unaltered and increasing levels of positive feedback from viewers.,” they continued.

The spokesperson added that the broadcaster was “committed” to an ongoing dialogue with its audience. We’ve listened to feedback, constantly looked at the programme ourselves, making adjustments and invested in the editorial where necessary. We will continue to do so.”
