Ann Summers abandons its M&S parody following legal threat
Ann Summers has abandoned its 'Squeal Deal' campaign after Marks & Spencer threatened to take legal action against the lingerie and sex toy retailer.
The ads were due to launch today, offering a mix and match of three items for £29 from a lingerie “main”, sex toy “side”, and a flavoured lubrication “dessert”.
The ads mimicked M&S’s so-called ‘food porn’ ads as well as its well-known meal deal, reversing the M&S lettering to read S&M and featuring a bottom covered in melted chocolate instead of the usual strawberry.
Sensing an opportunity to have more fun with the situation, an Ann Summers spokesperson commented: “Unfortunately, we have had to prematurely withdraw with our campaign.”
