Future’s Cyclingnews.com is to release a new version of its iPhone app to tie-in with the Giro D’Italia on 8 May.

The app follows the success of the original app and offers news, reviews, pictures and blogs from the cycling website.

“We initially soft launched the application to let the loyal Cyclingnews users play around with it and feedback their requirements to us,” said Mark Cantwell, digital associate publisher for Future’s sports portfolio.

“That feedback was fairly unanimous - “Love the app, but where are the race reports?” So that’s what we’ve added. We believe in user-driven development and will continue to refine and reshape all elements of Cyclingnews.com to satisfy the needs of our global audience.”

The free app was first released in December last year, and has since garnered 29,000 global downloads.

One of the new developments is the inclusion of race reports, the development of which was driven by user-feedback from the previous app.

Users can enjoy iconic images of riders and races direct from the Cyclingnews.com galleries, as well as all of the latest features and tech stories from around the world. The app also includes big-name rider blogs, bringing you all the behind the scenes action from the world's toughest sport.
