Suzie Norton, chief executive of regional agency Screen WM in the West Midlands, is to step down from her role.

Norton joined the organisation from Film Birmingham in he post of chief executive in late 2007, tasked with developing the economic, social and cultural wealth within the region.

During that time she secured £14 million of funding for the media industries in the region, and launched a partnership alongside Channel 4 to create the first regional hub through the 4iP fund.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Screen WM and I'm extremely proud of the team for firmly positioning the Midlands as a leading location for the creative industries,” commented Norton.

She explained that she felt that the time was right to leave ahead of the establishment of new development body Creative England, which will have three regional bases, one of which will be located in Birmingham.
