The marketing director for Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks is stepping down from the role after five years.

Dean Cutbill, who was handed responsibility for the banks' products and marketing in September 2006, will leave the group altogether in the summer.

His responsibilities will be taken over by John Hooper, executive director and National Australia Group Europe board member, who will act in an ambassadorial role.

Cutbill joined the group and its executive management team in March 2004 having previously had spells at Woolwich, Abbey National and Barclays.

He said: "I have had seven great years here, but the key initiatives I have led are largely complete and it’s now time for me to move on to pursue opportunities outside of the group."

Chief executive Lynne Peacock added: "Throughout the recent financial crisis Dean played a critical part in our success, with his team providing the support, speed of change and decision making our business and our customers required."
