Vauxhall appoints McCann Birmingham to market £15m FA sponsorship

McCann Birmingham is to provide advertising and marketing for Vauxhall’s £15m Football Association sponsorship, starting with a TV advertising campaign this autumn supporting the home nations in the run-up to Euro 2012.

Vauxhall took over from Nationwide as partner for the FA earlier this year, and as well as TV advertising sponsorship activity is to extend to digital marketing as well as across its network of 500 dealerships.

The sponsorship contract is the first major win for new executive creative director Vince McSweeney who joined from McCann Erickson Sydney earlier this year.

Chief executive Dean Lovett commented that “creative thinking had to be truly inspirational for such a high-profile campaign that would be seen by the eyes of the world”.

“What’s more”, he added, “it took an Aussie to help us see it”.
