Marketing Birmingham is to expand its management team with the appointment of Julie Moore, chief executive of University Hospital Birmingham and Professor David Eastwood, vice chancellor of the University of Birmingham, to its board.

The new arrivals follow hot on the heels of the launch of Business Birmingham, an initiative geared toward raising the city’s international profile in health research and technology.

Eastwood said: “The university sector has a hugely important role to play in generating new knowledge and ideas that can benefit the city. We operate in an environment where the city and the university need to promote themselves internationally and to establish global partnerships.”

Moore observed: “The unique environment Birmingham offers to develop and implement bench to bedside translational research is being recognised not only regionally but nationally and internationally. Birmingham has the ideal infrastructure to deliver academic, business and clinical excellence that will not only improve quality outcomes for patients, but will also help attract investors and drive economic growth and job creation in the city and wider region.”
