Radisson Edwardian is to introduce QR codes onto its restaurant menus across 11 of its UK hotels.

Working with digital marketing agency I Spy, the hotel chain will provide the codes as a short-cut to an online video, hosted on the brand’s website and YouTube channel showing the ‘dish of the month’ being prepared and cooked by one of the chefs.

Amy Clarke, e-commerce manager at Radisson Edwardian, said: “Restaurants are a promotional priority at the moment and I Spy has given us an incredibly powerful vehicle to help boost their profiles. Knowing how a dish looks at the ordering stage is very useful, so the QR codes be genuinely helpful to customers. But, perhaps more importantly, it’s innovations like this that keep Radisson Edwardian ahead of the curve.”

Aalia Walker, head of social media for I Spy, explained the reasoning for introducing the codes; “We already know that a large proportion of Radisson Edwardian guests are very digitally ‘switched on’ as demonstrated by the fact that many of them use location based apps such as Foursquare and Facebook to check-in. So QR codes jumped out as a perfect solution for promoting Radisson Edwardian’s restaurants in a style that would appeal to their customers and display commitment to outstanding food and service. This type of customer base gives us fertile ground in which to innovate and we’re already looking forward to working on the next project with Radisson Edwardian.”

The codes will be introduced to the menus from today.
