Entertainment retailer HMV has released a mobile phone app which will allow consumers to trade-in their video games.
Developed by MoPowered, the re/play app is free to download for iPhone and Android phones, allowing customers to view the latest trade in value of the video games and contoles through either entering the details of the title of the name of their console, or through a built-in barcode scanner.
Martin Baxter, re/play and range manager, described the app as ‘ground breaking’ and said that it would encourage a new range of customers who had previously lacked the confidence.
"Whether users choose the manual search option or the equally simple barcode scanner, they will be given an instant trade-in value for their games and consoles before being directed to their nearest HMV. Our re/play app will not only reduce current store transaction times, but will enable customers to quickly select new games and other products they wish to trade-in against, safe in the knowledge of how much they have to spend. By launching this innovative new service HMV will further improve its customer experience, boost its mobile credentials and maintain its status as a credible destination specialist for games and other entertainment content,” added Baxter.
The app will be updated on a weekly basis.
