Car company MG Motor has appointed Brilliant Media to work on the launch of its new MG6 model following a five-way competitive pitch.

Brilliant will plan and buy the media campaign for the first all new MG for 16 years, taking the brand back onto UK television.

An above-the-line campaign will also include press and online advertising as the new cars roll off the production line and into customers' garages from May.

The TV ad and a two-minute brand film, created by DCH, will be the centrepiece of the multi-million pound launch campaign.

The creative will promote MG as a brand at "the heart of British motoring heritage" while showcasing the "huge investment and British engineering resource behind the new models".

Guy Jones, sales and marketing director at MG, said: "Brilliant won after demonstrating a thorough understanding of what we are trying to achieve, not only with the launch of the MG6 but with the brand moving forward."
