Telegraph denies paywall reports
Telegraph Media Group has again moved to quell reports that it is set to implement a paywall for the online presence of The Telegraph.
Following an earlier report that The Telegraph had been working with the New York Times on its digital paid-for strategy, a spokesperson for Telegraph Media Group contacted The Drum to deny that such a model was set to launch.
The spokesperson issued the same response when the story was first reported in February, stating: “Absolutely no decisions have been made on the introduction of a paid-content model. Like all publishers, TMG continually evaluates the developments in the digital sector.”
The creation of a pay wall by the company has been mooted since February, when the company first denied any such plans were being put in place.
