The deal to bring back Big Brother on Channel 5 is likely to cost the station’s new owner Richard Desmond £200 million.

After months of negotiations with production company Endemol, The Guardian reports that an announcement over the five-year deal was hoped to be made this week, but has had to be delayed due to ‘last-minute legal wrangles’.

As a result of the talks taking so long – the rumour has circulated since last Summer – the show cannot return until August at the earliest, with Cheryl Cole said to be top of the list to replace Davina McColl as host.

The show is likely to return to its tradition slot of broadcasting through out the Summer from next year, however, with a three-week run of Celebrity Big Brother also on the cards in-between.
