Wesleyan Assurance Society, a financial services company for doctors, dentists, teachers and lawyers, has appointed Manchester-based PR firm Citypress.

The agency, which also has an office in London, will support Wesleyan's corporate, consumer, finance and trade media work.

Bernadette Bogan, corporate communications manager at Wesleyan, said: "This is an important appointment for Wesleyan as we continue to increase our PR and marketing activity to support our ongoing growth.”

The account will be handled by Citypress's 13-strong financial services team, which also manages national briefs for Lloyds Banking Group, Bank of New York Mellon and private equity funds.

Citypress managing director Charles Tattersall said: "Wesleyan is a strategic account win for Citypress. In the first half of 2010, we made a number of key appointments to support our growth in the personal finance sector and we’re starting to see the results of our enhanced expertise.

“Our role will be to promote its specialist expertise and market-leading products for the professional groups it serves while also communicating the society’s underlying insight, financial stability and continued growth.”
