Daily Mail & General Trust is rejigging its management teams after two senior executives at its regional newspaper operation announced plans to retire.

Northcliffe media managing director Michael Pelosi, who has been with the company for 22 years, is standing down. So too is his deputy Alex Leys, a former editor who has been there for 28 years.

Pelosi's place will be taken by Steve Auckland, who has been managing director of freesheet Metro, owned by Mail subsidy Associated Newspapers, since 2002.

It is believed that group commercial development director Linda Grant will replace Auckland at Metro.

Northcliffe runs more than 100 regional papers and is the UK’s fourth biggest regional newspaper publisher.
