International pharmaceutical firm Lundbeck has turned to McCann Erickson Manchester to help its launch a new product which will target alcohol dependency.

The agency has been appointed following a five-way-pitch, to plan and create a multi-stage pan European campaign for Nalmefene, designed to limit and control alcohol intake.

David Donaghue, managing partner at McCann Manchester, explained: “We’re working with Lundbeck on what for many people could be a life-changing therapy.

“We know that many people don’t want to stop drinking totally and if Nalmefene can help some reduce their intake then Lundbeck could leave a very positive and lasting legacy,” he added.

McCann Manchester already works with several healthcare companies including Shire, AstraZeneca and Norgine.
